Steven Philip Duffitt
Steven Philip Duffitt, 66 went home to be with Lord on Friday June 14, 2019 after a massive heart attack.
Steve was born August 15, 1952 in Anderson, Indiana. He spent 7 ½ years in the Air Force as a medic. While stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Tx he started attending Hillside Missionary Baptist Church where Br. David Ward was the pastor. In 1977 under Br. Ward’s ministry Steve came to know the LORD as his SAVIOUR, he was saved. Shortly thereafter he felt God’s calling into the ministry, and he answered that call. After, his Air Force tour of duty was over he moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where he started attending the Missionary Baptist Seminary. He graduated in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Bible Theology and a degree in Bible Languages. He then moved to Brownsville, Texas where he pastored a missionary Baptist Church for 10 years. He then moved to Oregon City, Oregon where he pastored there also for 8 and in 2000 he moved to San Antonio where he started pastoring the “Missionary Baptist Church of San Antonio” till the present. He also enjoyed being a woodworker.
He is survived by his wife Mary Duffitt, daughters Katherine M. Hearn and husband Woody and Rosalyn M. Saenz and husband AL. Grandchildren are Jordan Hornock, Caleb Hearn, Haley Hearn, Cooper Hearn, Cameron Saenz and Eric Saenz. His mother Rosalyn MaeHuffman Duffitt, sisters Lou Ann Jennings and husband Ben and Rebecca Walker. Nieces Andrea Westphal, Elizabeth Cess, nephews Robert Jennings, Joseph Jennings and Phillip Walker and their spouses and children.
He is preceded in death by his father Birchard PhilipDuffitt, grandparents Ernest Huffman and Elizabeth Ruth and Charles and Gladys Duffitt and various uncles and an aunt.
There will be a Memorial Service held at Missionary Baptist Church 14518 Higgins Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78217 at 4:00 PM on Friday June 21, 2019 with fellowship to follow.
