Alicia O'Rafferty

June 3, 1948 — September 8, 2020

Alicia Manuela O’Rafferty, age 72, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away in the early evening hours of Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at PAM Post Accute Medical Specialty Hospital in San Antonio.  Alice was born on June 3, 1948 in El Paso, Texas to Miguel and Luisa Maria Martinez Gamez, she survives.

Alice married Charles Roger O’Rafferty on March 18, 1978 in El Paso, Texas.  Charles married into a family and never looked back, in a single moment, he instantly made life better for Alice and her beloved children.  Together, Charles and Alice raised her children, lived countless adventures, and share a lifetime of memories.  He preceded her in death on August 28, 2008.

Alice was one of the most nurturing and kindest people. She had the biggest heart, and family was the most important thing in her life, followed by her love of the San Antonio Spurs.  Alice’s life revolved around her family.  Some of the earliest memories her children are left to cherish centered around Saturday mornings sitting in the living room before anyone else woke up, drinking coffee, and watching Westerns together. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her world, and when she was around them, you could see the love and the joy beaming in her smile. The holidays were her favorite time of the year, and Alice poured every ounce of energy she had into decorating her home. She was so good at it, that it looked like it was straight out of a magazine.

Alice leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will live on in the lives of her family for generations to come.

Alice is survived by two children, Richard L Turk, and wife Rosie, of Cibolo, Texas and Christine Skidmore, and husband John, of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren, Gennavie Bronczyk and husband Chris, of Reno, Nevada, Tia Paulina Skidmore Malone, and husband Michael Wade Malone, of _Richardson,Texas__, Nicolette Luna, and husband Kevin Luna, of San Antonio, Texas, Johnathon Lyndon Skidmore III of El Paso, Texas, Miguel Agustin Turk of Cibolo, Texas, and Elina Giselle Turk of Cibolo, Texas; great-grandchildren, Giovanni Charles Nino and Scarlett Alice Leilani Luna; mother, Luisa Maria Gamez of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Graciela O'Melia, and husband Randy O'Melia, of San Antonio and Margarita Gamez of El Paso, brothers, Miguel Gamez, Jr., and wife Susie Gamez, of El Paso and Ricardo Gamez and wife Anna Gamez, of Houston; and by a host of other relatives, whom she loved, and very special friends.

Alice was also preceded in death by her father, Miguel; her husband, Charles; one sister, Lydia Gamez Salazar, and by one great-grandson, Liam Paul Luna.

Alice was laid to rest with her beloved husband in a private family ceremony at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.  The family will honor and remember the life of Alice O’Rafferty in a memorial service that will be held at a later time.
