Carmen Casanova Hernandez, age 72, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, January 17, 2020 at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Carmen was born on July 7, 1947 in Floresville, Texas to the late Marcelo and Vickie (Marin) Casanova.
Carmen was a faithful member of the St. Helena Catholic Church. Those who knew her best will always remember her will to persevere, having survived Polio as a young girl, Carmen worked hard to provide for her beloved children. She was feisty and sarcastic, but to those closest knew the more she gave you in humor, the more she loved you. Carmen loved music and dancing but her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her treasured family.
Carmen is survived by one daughter, Roxane Barrera, and husband Javier, of Argyle, Texas; one son, Raul Hernandez; grandchildren, Joseph Barrera, of San Antonio, and Jacob Barrera and Julietta Barrera, both of Argyle. Carmen is also survived by a host of special cousins and other relatives and very special friends.
An informal gathering in her honor will be held at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the home of Gloria and Rafael Barrera. 8115 Sunshine Trail, San Antonio, TX 78244. The family invites anyone who would like to share in her memory to come and go throughout the afternoon.
