Doris Irene (Wehmeyer) Davis, born March 1, 1931 in Denhawken, Texas to Norma (Lambeck) & Walter Wehmeyer, passed away January 10, 2023. Preceded in death by husband, Lloyd L. Davis; daughters, Anita Jeanne Luna and Shawn Dee Moreno; parents, Norma & Walter Wehmeyer; brother, Lester W. Wehmeyer; sister-in-law, Jeanette Wehmeyer; niece, Belinda Afflerbach; nephew, Glenn Wehmeyer; grandson, Timothy Volz. Survived by sisters, Oleta Patillo (Myles) & Hazel Marie Shaw (Clive); brother, Franklin C. Wehmeyer (Carolyn); grandchildren, Shawn Dee Moreno, AJ Luna, and Allison Luna; great-grandchildren, Abel T. Hinojosa, Brenden James Silva and Jeanne Silva; nephews, Mike Patillo, Kenneth Wehmeyer and Lesley Wehmeyer; niece, Tammy Cruise, also many cousins and friends. She loved her family and special friends; Cindy, Prissy and Little One. She also loved reading and working in her yard. She was a country girl all her life and proud of it. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Denhawken, Texas. She graduated from high school in Stockdale, Texas in 1948. She retired in 1996 after working for 16 years at HEB Construction. She was a life member of VFW Auxiliary Post 2059 and a member of the Military Order of the Cooties Auxiliary #9 of Kirby, Texas. She was a dedicated volunteer with the MOCA at the SAMMC Children’s Ward, Orthopedic Ward and a Nursing Home. She appreciated the care of her physicians at SAMMC and the care of her granddaughter Shawn, her great-grandson Abel, her brother Franklin, his wife Carolyn, and her dear friend Betty Taylor.
