Douglas Perry

November 22, 1920 — March 28, 2013

Mr. Douglas B. Perry, age 92, passed away peacefully in San Antonio, Texas, on March 28th, 2013. He was born on November 22, 1920 in Iron City, Georgia to Marcellus and Golie William Perry.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1938 to 1963 and was stationed in Okinawa, Washington DC, Hawaii, Maryland and San Antonio, TX. Following his rertirement in the Army, he worked in the Finance Procurement Center for Fort Sam Houston Officer's Club.

After his final retirement from the Officer's Club, he focused on what brought him the most joy namely fishing, golfing, cooking and gardening. His family will miss those Sunday cook-outs, and neighbors will miss his gifts of fresh vegetables that he proudly handed out.

He enjoyed his trips to Lousiana and Mississippi where he would visit the casinos and the buffets.

He is preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Dobie Williams Perry, his brothers Arch, Glen, Irving, William and Finley, his sisters, Cordelia, Edna and Georgia, his stepdaughter, Antoinette Buentello and his grandson, Michael Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife, Herta Perry, his children, Richard Perry, Michelle Perry, Madelon and husband Manuel Davila, his stepdaughters Arleen and husband Tino Flores and Patricia Jeffrey, his grandchildren, Chris Escamilla, Jeffrey Woody, Matthew Woody and partner Robin Deyerle, Christine and Dustin Jakubik and Bethany Jeffery, great grandchildren, Madelynn Woody and Maxwell Jakubik.

A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 at 2:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or any charity of your choice.
