Mama Ethiopia Negash Quinton has left a remarkable legacy here on this earth. Mama Ethiopia was a very strong and very proud woman. She was amazing and like a mother to many. She touched many hearts in so many ways. Her voice and most of all her loving personality, brought joy and light to many. She had this candid, honest and straightforward personality. She carried an unmatched courage and love toward of anything Tigrayan. She had a strong passion for serving God, taking care of her family, and helping the less fortunate. Her pride and joy for her country and her parental lineage was immeasurable. A few of the many things that she has done for her country are, having the St. Raphael church built in Deroka, Tigray, furnished roofing for three additional churches, ensured that clean running water was available for My Shuguriti Elementary school, she built a one-story building in memory of her husband, Mr. Howard Quinton, at Selaisse Church in Adwa and handed it over to leaders of the community, and many more countless acts of kindness, some of which were still in the process of completing. Mama Ethiopia had a deep appreciation for education as she was not permitted to go to school. She self-taught herself how to read and write Tigrinya, Amharic, and English. Mama Ethiopia encouraged everyone to seek higher education and continuously better themselves and in turn helping their families.

Her love for Adwa, her birthplace, had no limit. “ጏል ዓድዋ: ጏል እምባ ሰሎዳ: ጏልቶም ጀጋኑ: ኢትዮጵያ ነጋሽ እየ" was how her voice mail welcomed incoming calls. Mama Ethiopia was such an important part of our family, but sadly she has gone to be with the Lord. Thank you for all the valuable life lessons in God, family, and country.

Mama Ethiopia, we love you and you will forever live in our hearts.
