Floyd Dickey

Floyd R. Dickey, age 87 years, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on May 24, 2016 under the care of Gentiva Hospice. He was born in Speed, Indiana on January 22, 1929. Floyd owned and operated a farm equipment repair company in Indiana while driving big rigs cross country. He married Marie (D) and had 6 children; Joyce (D), Bill (D), JoAnn Smith (Marvin), Jerry Dickey (Brenda), Mike Dickey (Lisa), Janice Embry (James). Later he married Mary Ann Gore on November 1, 1982 and added two stepchildren to his family; Theresa Ann Gore and Clarence H. Gore, Sr. (Sandy) and one grandchild, Clarence Gore, Jr. (CJ) and wife Analisa. Floyd and Mary Ann loved traveling and listening to country music. Floyd had a passion for woodworking including whittling, various woodcrafts to building houses. He loved his rat terriers TAG, Hercules, Rowdy and Tess. Though he did not care for fishing or bingo, he would go anyway because he loved Mary Ann. He loved his family, friends and he never knew a stranger. He would do anything for anyone. He had a total of 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a sister, Juanita Bray, and 5 brothers-in-law; Jack Holland, Ernest Onderdonk, Bobby Onderdonk, Dan Onderdonk and Larry Onderdonk. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, Tx 78239. A funeral will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM, also at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Floyd Dickey be made to Gentiva Hospice Foundation (855-951-6150).
