Gary Wapniewski

September 10, 1953 — June 10, 2016

Gary Wapniewski, age 62, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on June 10th, 2016 following complications of an aneurysm. Born in Depew, New York on September 10th, 1953 to Benjamin and Lucy Wapniewski, Gary moved to Texas 38 years ago with his wife, Darlene and daughter, April. He retired from Big Red Bottling Company after 27 years where he held many different positions, and was enjoying his retirement. He loved to travel, go gambling, and playing Bingo. Gary was an "all sports fan," but remained a die-hard Buffalo Bills fan. Known for being a little gruff when he spoke, he had a heart full of gold and would do anything for anyone. He loved his family and all the "fur babies" that brought smiles to his face. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eddie Wapniewski. Gary is survived by his wife of 39 years, Darlene, his daughter, April and his Grand-dog "Tank." He also leaves behind his sisters, Grace White of North Carolina, Lucille Sumeriski and Cindy Morton, both of New York, and his brother Paul, of New York and numerous nephews and nieces. The Wapniewski family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at University Hospital ICU for the excellent care Gary was given. At the family's request, no funeral services will be held. Chapel Hill Funeral Home is handling final arrangements and condolences can be left on their website.
