A beloved husband, son, father, and grandfather; Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Hans Peter Kwoka passed away on November 27, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
Hans was born on March 25, 1963, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Horst and Lisa Kwoka. The Kwoka family later immigrated to the United States by boat and made their home in Crosby, Texas, where Hans grew up and graduated from Crosby High School.
He enlisted in the United States Army on April 19, 1985, serving proudly as a Tanker (19-Kilo Armor Crewman). Shortly after completing Basic Training, Hans married the love of his life, Shiria. Throughout his 21-year military career, his assignments took him to Fort Stewart, Georgia; Bamberg, West Germany; Korea; and finally Fort Riley, Kansas. Hans also deployed to Iraq, Saudi Arabia Kuwait, and Bosnia in support of missions tied to Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the Global War on Terrorism. He retired honorably in August 2006 as a Sergeant First Class.
Following his military service, Hans fulfilled his long-standing dream of becoming a United States Postmaster. He took great pride in his work and relocated to San Antonio in 2013 to be near his daughters. He continued his dedicated service as a postal carrier until his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service in 2021.
Hans is preceded in death by his father, Horst. He leaves behind his mother, Lisa; his devoted wife of 40 years, Shiria; his daughters Cherrie (Robert), Katesha (Steve), and his “baby girl,” Lisa; and brothers, Karl and Harold. He is also survived by his grandchildren—Jasmine, Bria, Jalyn, Austin, and Layla—along with two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Ryder, and a host of loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
