Harry West passed away peacefully on 18 Feb 2017 in his home in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born in Somerset, Kentucky on 24 January 1941 were he traveled through the state of Kentucky with his family until he decided to join the military.
Harry joined the Air Force in 17 Jul 1963 and after a lustrous 25 year career, he retired from the Air Force on 31 Jul 1989 at the rank of Senior Master Sergeant (SMSgt). During his Air Force Career, SMSgt West participated in the Korean War Campaign and was awarded a Defense Joint Commendation Medal for his involvement with the Defense Intelligence Agency. He strongly believed it was an honor and privilege to serve his country.
After retirement from the military, Harry followed his faith and life-long dream of being a Methodist Minister. During his faithful ministry of 26 years, he served and led several churches from Leakey, Texas to his last church in Three Rivers, Texas were he retired in Jul 2014. Pastor West was guided by the lord to faithfully serve and help his communities in understanding the importance of christian values and morals. He served the lord with faith, obedience, and integrity throughout his ministry.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Wilson and his son, Paul West, grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Tyler Wilson, Joshua and Hannah West. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
Memorial service for Harry will be a Universal City United Methodist Church, 90 Winn Avenue Universal City, TX 78148 on 6 Mar 2017 at 12:00. After the memorial service, he will be buried at Fort Sam Houston with full military honors at 1:45 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Harry West can be made to the Isaac Foundation for Suicide and Bullying Prevention in care of Kara Yocum, 1350 Morningwood Drive, San Marcos, Texas 78666. Or; The Universal City United Methodist Church 90 Winn Ave. Universal City, Texas 78148.
