John R. Diskerud

John R "Digger" Diskerud a proud veteran of the Air force, Army Reserves, and Active Duty Army, passed away on March 26th 2024 surrounded by his family.

John was born on August 12th 1952 in Portage, Wisconsin where he was raised by his loving Grandparents. At the age of 18, John enlisted in the Air force where served 4 years and then in 1974 transferred into Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of E7. As part of this service, he served in both Vietnam and Dessert Storm.

On March 1st 1975 John Married this loving wife Helen Diskerud in Bees ville Illinois . John and Helen went on to have 2 sons, John and Jason.

After retiring from the military in 1993, he began his work as a Mortician for the San Antonio area and continued in that field till 2007 when he retired.

John Diskerud is survived by his wife Helen Diskerud, his sons John E . Diskerud and Jason Diskerud, His Grandchildren Leighanna Gonzalez, Sarah Buckner, Courtney Diskerud, Ethan Denning, Kayla Diskerud, Autumn Diskerud, Matthew Buckner, Sage Diskerud, And Jeremiah Diskerud. As well as many Great-Grandchildren

His loved ones will remember him as a very stubborn but loving man. He was a man that cared deeply for his family and loved to be around his grandchildren. John loved telling stories, even if he has told you 500 times before. He will be deeply missed by all his friend and family that had the pleasure to meet him.

A service honoring the life of John will be held Chapel Hill Funeral Home on April 4th from 4-8pm with Memorial Service  .
