Josefa “Josie” Gonzalez, 88, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at 11:50 p.m. surrounded by love. Born on December 5, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, Josie spent her entire life in the city she loved and proudly called home.
Josie was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother whose love for her family knew no bounds. She is survived by her children Esther, Augustine, Sylvia, Rosemary, Isabel, and Jose Luis, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. She is now reunited with her sons, Freddy and Gilberto, whom she loved deeply and carried in her heart always. Josie was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided her throughout her life and brought her strength, comfort, and peace.
To know Josie was to feel loved. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and togetherness. She had a passion for cooking and poured her heart into every meal she made. No one ever left her home hungry, and no one ever left without feeling welcomed. Whether through her cooking, her hugs, her words of encouragement, or simply her presence, Josie had a way of making people feel safe and cared for. She was the kind of person who was always there when someone needed her; loving, selfless, compassionate, and strong.
Although her passing leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Her love, guidance, and beautiful spirit will be deeply missed every day, remembered in every family gathering, every shared meal, and every moment filled with love and laughter.
