Joseph Mcnulty

Joseph Anthony McNulty entered rest on April 1, 2016 at his home with his family at his side after a lengthy illness. He was born December 26, 1937 in Manhattan, New York. "Mac," as his family and friends knew him, was the son of Joseph Aloysius McNulty, of Manhattan and Anne Morgan Durkin of Brooklyn, New York. Mr. McNulty had a career in the U.S. Army that took him to France, Germany and several stations in the United States. Mac met his wife Peggy while stationed in Georgia they married on September 7, 1957 in Cusetta, Georgia. He and his wife were the parents of seven children, born in two different countries and different stations in the U.S. Mac retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major on November 30, 1979. Mac followed in his father and uncle's footsteps, who were New York City firemen, by becoming a volunteer firefighter for Ansonia, Connecticut Volunteer Fire Department, while stationed in the small town. Then, after moving to San Antonio, he became Chief of the Montgomery Drive Volunteer Fire Service here in San Antonio. His wife Peggy had also been a volunteer fireman and EMT. Mr. McNulty leaves behind his children Patricia, wife of Derek Dehle; and Sue Messer, both of San Antonio; Joseph Edward McNulty and wife Joyce, of Dallas, Texas; Michael McNulty and wife Elizabeth of San Antonio; and Ann Marie, wife of Tim Nance of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Grandchildren: Amber Messer, wife of Eric Capuano of San Antonio, Jason Dehle and wife Casey of Dallas, TX; Sarah Dehle, wife of Chase Thompson of Schertz; Ian Dehle of San Antonio; and Deeann Dehle, wife of Steven Boldway of San Antonio; and six great grandchildren. Preceding Mr.McNulty in death are his wife, an infant daughter, Rosemary, and daughter Rachel. Funeral services will be held April 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., San Antonio, TX 78239 with full military honors. He will be laid to rest immediately after next to his wife at Chapel Hill Memorial Park.
