Juanita Garcia

January 6, 1927 — March 3, 2022

Juanita Rodriguez Garcia passed on to be with our lord on March 2nd 2022. She was born to Porfirio Garcia and Maria Rodriguez Garcia on January 6th 1927 in Kemp, Tx. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. All of whom she loved with all her heart.

Juanita was a devout Catholic and loved going to St. Jude. Anytime she made a promise to God, she would go to La Virgen De San Juan to light her candles. She was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone whether it was a simple cup of coffee, babysitting, or just to sit there and listen. If someone was in need of clothes she would offer what she had or take them shopping. She would often enjoy a beer with everyone, talk about the days passed, and have lots of laughs.

However, as sweet and innocent as she was, she had a feisty side to her. If we bought another brand of spice other than the Fiesta brand we were in trouble. She would get upset if everyone was drinking and no one offered her a beer. She would call us out on it. When we were old enough to get the bill if went shopping or out to eat we would have to secretly rush to the register before she saw us to pay. If she was close and saw us pulling out the money to pay, she would slap our hands and tell us to put it away. She always said “Es solo dinero. No puedo llevarmelo conmigo cuando me muera”

She proudly spoke of her time working for Bolners Fiesta and her friends that she worked with for many years and how they called her grandma. When her friends would pick her up she had the biggest smile. She loved them as if they were family.

She had to make a trip to California and often spoke of how everyone was so kind and welcoming. She often spoke of everyone by name and how she would love to go back and visit.

We thank God for allowing us 95 wonderful years with her. As hard as it is to say goodbye, it helps knowing that before she passed she said her father, mother, and brothers were there to pick her up. She will forever be in our hearts.
