Maria Luisa Perez-Najera 1931 - 2017

Our beloved mother, cherished "Buelita", and loyal friend, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the age of 85. She was born to Joaquin and Juana Perez in Mexico City, Mexico, and was the eldest of ten children.
She loved to cook and open her home to family and friends. She sewed her whole life as a hobby and to provide for her brothers and sisters. She wasn't allowed to attend school past 7th grade, but she still learned to speak, read and write Spanish, French and English.
She was a very humble and modest, yet strong woman. Her life's journey was filled with many hardships, challenges and accomplishments, which she always faced with faith, determination, and courage. Yet her greatest gifts to all that knew her, was her strong faith, unwavering belief that everyone be treated with respect, her enduring and unconditional love.
She is survived by her daughter, Lucy Canales (Raymond) and granddaughter Jennifer M. Thomas (Sabrina).
Lucy and Jenna wish to personally thank our friends Jane Chavez and Becky Hernandez for being there for her and us. Without your care and love for our beloved buelita, we don't know what we would have done these past difficult, yet rewarding months.

Visitation will be on Sunday, August 6, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at Chapel Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., 78239. Funeral mass will be at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 102 Lorenz Rd. 78209, at 10:30 a.m. with procession to Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd., 78239.
