Maria Contreras

Maria Victoria Contreras was born in Goliad, Texas on December 23, 1930. She entered Heaven’s gates on January 17, 2018.

A consummate mother and homemaker, Maria was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years, she was known for her tamales and mole.

Maria had an unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of the congregation at Capilla del Pueblo in San Antonio, Texas. Over the years, she had become very involved with the church and assisted with numerous missionary trips to spread the gospel to prison inmates. She was also a talented singer and was a member of the church choir.

Maria was predeceased by her loving husband, Domingo Rodriguez. She was also predeceased by her two siblings, Miguel Contreras and Mercedes Medina, and her son Ricardo Olvera. Maria is survived by her two siblings Alfonso Contreras and Natalia Garza and by her eleven children daughter Rosa Leal (Ramiro), daughter San Juana Castillo (Adan), son Jesse Trevino (Irma), daughter Helen Escobedo (Gilbert), daughter Ester Trevino, daughter Alma Barrera (Rick), son Miguel Trevino, daughter Guadalupe Barajas (John), daughter Julia Trevino-Moreno (Hector), daughter Margie Trevino, and daughter Anna Godina (Cesar). She is also survived by thirty-four grandchildren, sixty-one great-grandchildren, and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Road, San Antonio, TX 78239.
