Marilyn Zollie Maksyn Goodwin, age 73, passed away peacefully, on May 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was a woman of strong faith which helped her during her illness, and she never complained during that time. She was excited that she was able to “ring the bell” in 2020.
Marilyn was a kind and giving person, and she would give her last dollar to the homeless or the shirt off of her back.
She loved her family, and her grand and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to her favorite Mexican restaurant, Jacala. Windchimes, QVC, her babies, drinking coffee, and the Lord almighty brought her immense joy.
Although Marilyn was a single parent, she loved her son Matthew whom she called her gift from God. She reared Matthew to be a Christian man and he stood by her until the end. She only had one son, but her kind, loving, and generous spirit caused her to be a mother to all.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph John Maksyn and her mother, Betty Jane Matthews, one brother, Reagan Maksyn, and her infant grandson, Christopher Goodwin.
Those left with cherished memories and to continue her legacy of love are her son, Matthew Goodwin, and his wife, Vanessa; three grandchildren, John Anthony, Alyssa Nicole, and Andrew Jacob Goodwin. Three great-grandsons, Kaiden James, Kyrie Elijah, and Jayceon Azyre Goodwin, a sister, Diana Maksyn and a brother, Joe Maksyn, Jr., nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
