Mary Dennison White, aged 103, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, at the Army Residents Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, WW II B-17 pilot Colonel Miller Grieve White Jr, her brother, Robert Dennison, and her parents, Robert and Harriott Dennison.
She is survived by her two sons Miller Grieve White III and wife Barbara and Robert Stuart White, four grandchildren, Robby, Carter, Miller IV, and Tracey, and eight great grandchildren.
Born in the little town of South Paris, Maine, Mary grew up loving ice skating, skiing and fishing with her dad. In 1938, she received the first airmail letter to ever come to South Paris. Soon after graduating from high school, she joined the US Navy, serving several years in the typing pool in Washington, DC where she met the love of her life, Miller.
She was a very capable outdoors woman, enthusiastically participating in countless family camping and sailing trips. She loved music, played piano and sang harmony with her husband, Miller.
She was a creative artist to her core, delving into every imaginable art form. She made meticulously crafted, prize-winning quilts. Her greatest love was water color painting and she continued to create exquisite works late into life. Never one to sell her artwork, she loved creating beautiful art for the sake of the art process.
Mary was a strongly principled woman, who raised her children with a heathy mix of love and firm adherence to good old fashioned values. She was the matriarch of three generations of solid, substantial descendants who are scattered across the country and who will make the world a better place. She has left her mark and will be remembered with love and fond memories.
