He proudly served in the United States Air Force for 27 years, dedicating his time and efforts to protect and defend his fellow citizens. His service was a testament to his patriotism and his willingness to make sacrifices for the greater good.

 

Beyond his military service, Melvin was a beacon of inspiration, tirelessly working towards his goals and motivating others to do the same. His leadership skills were unparalleled, and he had a remarkable ability to bring out the best in those around him. Whether it was within his family, in his professional endeavors, or in his community, Melvin's influence was far-reaching and positively impactful.

 

Melvin was not only a dedicated serviceman but also a loving husband. He was married to his beloved Margaret Flickinger for an incredible 59 years. Their bond was a testament to the strength of their love and commitment. Melvin's devotion to his wife was unwavering, and their partnership served as an example to all who knew them.

 

Melvin was also a loving father, survived by his children April Stewart, Gina (Tim)Wright, Stephanie Broswell, Jeff (Cynthia) Flickinger, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  He played an integral role in their lives, instilling in them the values of hard work, determination, and compassion. Melvin's guidance and support shaped his children into the remarkable individuals they are today.

 

In addition to his immediate family, Melvin is survived by his sisters Janice (Charles)Locke and Mary Ann Burgess-Mullen. Their bond was unbreakable, and their shared memories will forever be cherished.

 

Melvin Flickinger's impact on those around him was immeasurable. His dedication, care, hard work, creativity, motivation, leadership, and love will continue to inspire and guide us. As we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary individual, let us also celebrate the life he lived and the profound legacy he leaves behind.
