Mercedes Rentas-Gelabert
June 1, 1927 — March 3, 2019
On 3 March 2019, Mercedes Rentas Gelabert (DZ-11927) of The Star Garrison of the 501st Legion and The Imperial Rough Rider Squad of the Star Garrison, passed away. Mercedes was the oldest member of The 501st Legion and joined to troop with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sons Radamis Sanchez Rentas, Manuel A. Sanchez Rentas, and Perry Sanchez Rentas. She will be missed by her children, Adela M. Sanchez Rentas (Carlos J. Ramos Moll), Gloria Z. Torres, Eric G. Sanchez Santana, Harry Sanchez Santana, Nestor Galarza, Raul Sierra, and Gladys Silva, her sister Raquel Rentas, along with 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Mercedes will be forever remembered by the Legion as she joins the 501st Hall of Eternal Legionnaires.
