Michael Edwin Johnson born on June 13, 1970 at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas to Richard and Patricia Johnson passed from this life on July 23, 2017 in Schertz, Texas. He was a great son , brother, father, uncle, friend and most importantly Paw Paw. He loved his family and they meant everything to him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Johnson Sr., mother, Patricia L. Kaough Johnson, and brother, Richard E. Johnson Jr. He is survived by siblings, Sherry A. Johnson, Debra L. (Roy) Jimenez, Gary A. Johnson, and Nancy G. (Ernest) Castillo, daughter , Marrisa A. (Colton;) Hopper and son, Andrew P. (Cecilia) Johnson; nieces and nephews, Rebecca (Brian) Lodge, Brenda (Irvin) Hollowell, Ronnie (Nicole) Jimenez, Rubi Prescott, Ernest Castillo Jr. Christopher Gonzales, Logan A. Johnson, Mercedes(Tyler) Wameke, Maylayasia (Miguel) Quiroz, and 4 grandchildren, Lillian M. Hopper, Ezekiel Valdez, Alexanderia N. Hopper and Zechariah A. Johnson, and 15 great nieces and nephews, Jahrid, Marcus, Sam, Mya, Alley, Kameron, Arya, Brycen, Abrianna, Clara, Breilyn, Ramundo, Ronan, Araceli and Isaac.
Mike graduated from DeRidder High School in DeRidder, Louisiana. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served through Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and stationed at Fort Hood Texas and Fort Wainwright Alaska. He received the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge Rifle, Army Lapel Button, and Southeast Asia Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. After leaving the Army he went to Denver Colorado and attended Truck Driving School. He loved being on the open road and sharing the places he visited with his children and grandchildren. He drove trucks for 21 years. He achieved his dream of owning his own truck in February 2016, and becoming his own boss. He was a member of VFW Post 8315, Schertz, Texas. The visitation will be held on Thursday August 3, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors.
