Obituary for M.N. Cockerham It is with heavy hearts that the family of M.N. “Ben” Cockerham, 98, of Jourdanton, Texas, announce that their beloved Father passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. Ben was born in Winnsboro, Louisiana on January 27, 1928, and joined the Army in 1949 where he would serve the next 20 years and receive numerous medals. While stationed in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ben went to a birthday party with his sister and her husband. Bonnie, born and raised in Malvern, was there as well and heard Ben singing to the Band playing. She asked her friend Ida, Bens Sister, about him. The two met and married November 18. 1953. During the next 70 years, they would celebrate the birth of their three children. Skip, Mike and Karen. Ben was serving his last tour in Korea and had settled Bonnie, Skip and Mike in a home in San Antonio. Karen arrived during that time. When Ben retired from the Army in 1969, they achieved another dream by buying some land in Converse, Texas where they created a Horse Farm for 11 years before selling it and traveling the US to see old friends and have longer visits with extended family in Arkansas and Louisiana. In 1983, they cut back on traveling as Grandchildren were entering their lives. They built a new home in Jourdanton, Texas and lived there the rest of their days making incredible memories with family, friends and each other. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence David and Lula Mae Cockerham. Seven Siblings and his beloved wife Bonnie Sulton Cockerham. He is survived by his son, Skip Cockerham and wife Marla, of St. Hedwig, Texas. Son, Michael and wife Cathi, of Marion, Texas, and daughter, Karen and husband Bret, of Ft. Worth, Texas, 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Ben will be remembered for his passion for hunting, fishing, music, singing, his great sense of humor and incredible ability to tell a story. Some of them were even true! The family will miss him very much but find peace in the memories and celebrate that he is now reunited with his beloved Bonnie forever in Heaven. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 7th at Chapel Hill Funeral Hill, 7735 Gibbs Sprawl Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78239
