Un Kirk

March 30, 1934 — August 19, 2022

Un Su Kirk was born March 30, 1934, in Po Hang, South Korea. The second child of Ha, Bu Joon, and Yi Mu Sun. Un Su was also the proud little sister to Yong Su Ha.

During her formative years in South Korea, Un Su was a great scholar and dedicated student who graduated from high school with top honors. She instilled her dedication and love for education in her five daughters by becoming the best at-home educator. Her involvement in her children's educational aspirations was one of her main passions.

Un Su moved to the United States in 1984 after she married her husband, Alvis Hodge Kirk in 1978. They were happily married, living in San Antonio, Texas for 32 years until Alvis was called home to be with the Lord in 2011. Un Su was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a homemaker who raised strong, beautiful daughters. She loved to create memories with her family through photos.

Un Su is known for her fast walking. Even her children and grandchildren could not keep up with her! Her community considered her as the neighborhood mom. When Un Su rested from her fast walking, she loved to treat her family and friends to her famous and delicious Korean cuisine.

In addition to Un Su's dedication to her family, she was guided in life by her faith. She served as a senior Deacon and devout Christian. She was an active member of the Full Gospel Korean Church in San Antonio, Texas, for 25 years. Her walk with Christ consisted of countless hours devoted to community outreach and giving back to those in need. Un Su was a very loving and giving person who blessed others with her presence and spirit.

She loved to sing and participate in several social events with her church. Un Su remained strong and steadfast in the Lord and was a faithful servant. She knew her savior and spent her last days glorifying God and thanking Him for a life well lived.

Un Su will be remembered for her dedication and her unfailing love for her family and friends. She was a very caring and kind spirit, with a contagious smile and altruistic heart. Un Su went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 19, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bu Joon Ha and Mu Sun Yi; her brother, Yong Su Ha, and her husband, Alvis Hodge Kirk. She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Mi Hyang Wood of Killeen, TX, Okwan Lee of Harker Heights, TX, Yeon Su Rogers of Grapevine, TX, Mun Joo Briones (Juan) of San Antonio, TX and Cindy Kirk Harris (Steven, Sr.) of San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren; Jamie Amani (Soli), Daniel Wood, Ashly Johnson, Shelly McDaniel (Keith), Paul Rogers, Janay Harris, and Steven Harris, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; Soli Amani, Jr., Daizen Amani, Zane Amani, Amaiah Amani, Lily Wood, and Mya McDaniel and a host of other relatives and very close friends.
