Vernon Galle

June 11, 1925 — March 7, 2017

Vernon Edward Galle entered eternal rest at the age of 91. Vernon is survived by his childhood sweetheart Joyce his wife of 70 years. Four daughters Barbara Knox, Velma Galle, Vernel Newman, Beverly Byrge(Chuck). Five grandchildren Kimberly LaQue(Jerome) Stephen Knox(Stephanie) Nicholas Knox(Rosemary) Virginia Bialowas(Jody) Michelle Friedeck(Nelson). 10 Great-grandchildren.
He entered the Navy during WWII serving on the USS President Jackson in the Pacific Fleet. Witnessing the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima. He worked 43 years with Union Pacific Railroad all over south Texas as a Special Agent retiring in 1985. He and Joyce traveled across the continental United States visiting many national parks and other points of interest in their motorhome. When not travelling Vernon could be found in his garden or tending to his flowers. Many days he could be found in his swing enjoying his neighbors and neighborhood.
The family would like to thank Holy Savior Hospice especially Mia, Gilbert, Marcie and Kevin.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harlandale Christian Church or Holy Savior Hospice.
Visitation is Sunday 12 March from 4-7 PM. Funeral is Monday 13 March at 12:30 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
