Dorothy Littlepage

August 27, 1925 — August 11, 2020

Dorothy Louise Littlepage, age 94, of San Antonio, Texas passed away in the late afternoon hours of Monday, August 10, 2020 at the Landing at Stone Oak, after a long-fought battle with dementia.  Dorothy was born nearly a century ago, in San Antonio to the late Louis Howell and Adelaide Wilson Hathaway.

Dorothy married Phelps Edward Littlepage in July 1944 and together began a family that saw the births of three children, endured countless hurdles and created a lifetime of memories.  Phelps and Dorothy spent 42 years full of laughter and love.  He preceded her in death in January 1986.  Dorothy later married M.L. Coons, who shared her passion for traveling and created a connection that filled needs in each other’s lives.  Dorothy and M.L. spent 15 years creating their own memories until he also preceded her in death in 2007.

Dorothy learned early in life the importance of education.  Early in life, Dorothy was a homemaker who took pride in taking care of her beloved husband and their three children.  She pursued her dream of higher education and earned her a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Trinity University in 1966.  After teaching for several years, she furthered her education by completing her master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin University in 1983.  Dorothy worked in elementary education and specialized in Special Education.  Dorothy was a teacher by trade but also in life – she never turned off her desire to teach those around her.  Lessons weren’t always arithmetic or reading, she loved to teach life lessons and about God.  As important as education was to Dorothy, instilling in her family the love of the Lord and the teachings of the Bible were more important.  Dorothy was a lifelong Methodist.

Those who knew Dorothy will remember the love she also had for travelling. Her most favorite trip was to Germany and throughout Europe.  Dorothy had an adventurous spirit that reveled in the opportunity to learn and live history.  Dorothy was a proper lady who made sure she always had herself well put together.  Dorothy was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 75 years, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Social Order of Beauceant.  Dorothy leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance and dedication that will live on the hearts of those were so lucky to call her mom, Meme and friend.

Dorothy is survived by three children, Terry Edward Littlepage, and wife Monette, of Spring Branch, David Brian Littlepage, and wife Ginia, of San Antonio, and Patti Ann Strey, and husband Chuck, of Spring Branch; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dorothy Littlepage will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 21, 2020 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Aguilar officiating.  Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park with Tausch Littlepage, George Gomez, Robert Littlepage, Randy Strey, Colby Cormier, and Connor Cormier serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Alliance.
