ESTELLA BARRERA HERNANDEZ

 

10/11/1931 TO 9/12/2020

 

OUR MOTHER WAS BORN IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS ON OCTOBER 11, 1931 AND PASSED AWAY ON SEPTEMBER 12. 2020 AFTER HER BATTLE WITH ESOPHAGEAL CANCER.

SHE HAD 6 CHILDREN: VALENTIN HERNANDEZ JR Wife, Margaret (Margie); SAM HERNANDEZ wife Angie,  SANDRA LIZA RAMOS husband Joe; DEBORAH GUERTIN husband David;  DANIEL B. HERNANDEZ wife Dianne; AND BENJAMIN DAVID HERNANDEZ wife Bonnie. 

SHE HAD 25 GRANDCHILDREN: VALERIE MONICA, NATHAN, ISAAC AND STEPHEN, RAQUEL, JENNIFER, SAMMY, ELIZABETH, ABEL, JOE JASON, JONATHAN, GENEVIE, MARISA, TERISA, FREDDY, TONY AND CHRISTOPHER, ANITA, VANESSA, DANIEL, REBECKAH, SIMON, QUEREN, ISABEL AND VALENTIN.

SHE HAS 24 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN.

IN JUNE 1949 SHE WENT TO CHICAGO AND MARRIED VALENTIN HERNANDEZ ON 7/29/1949.  SHE BEGAN TO STUDY WITH JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES FROM 1942 TO 1945 AND ATTENDED HER FIRST ASSEMBLY IN DECEMBER1949 IN ENGLISH AND WAS BAPTIZED IN DECEMBER of 1951,  THEY MOVED BACK TO SAN ANTONIO IN 1955 AND ATTENDED THE LAKE CONGREGATION, THE ONLY CONGREGATION IN SPANISH AND TRAVELED TO PREACH IN CRYSTAL CITY, COUTULA, PEARSAL, DEVINE AND LAREDO, TX ALONG WITH 4 CHILDREN AT THE TIME.

AGAIN IN 1959 THEY RETURNED BACK TO CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.  AT THAT TIME A SMALL GROUP OF 15 SPANISH BROTHERS WERE GATHERING IN A DOCTORS OFFICE NORTH OF CHICAGO,  1963 THEY BEGAN TO GATHER WITH THE ENGLISH CONGREGATION.  AND IN 1963 THEY HAD THEIR FIRST SPANISH CONGREGATION AND HER AND DAD INVITED 32 PERSONS TO ATTEND.  THAT SAME YEAR THEY HAD THEIR FIRST SPANISH ASSEMBLY.

AGAIN IN AUGUST 1970 THEY RETURNED BACK TO SAN ANTONIO BECAUSE BOTH THEIR PARENTS WERE AGING AND LIVED HERE IN SA, THEY ATTENDED MENCHACA CONGREGATION FOR 2 ½ YEARS, 1975 BROTHER VALENTIN RAMIREZ INVITED OUR DAD VALENTIN HERNANDEZ TO HELP IN NEW BRAUFELS SPANISH CONGREGATION, WHERE 35 FRIENDS ATTENDED.  AT THIS TIME THEY WERE LIVING IN BULVERDE, TX.

THEN IN 1982 BROTHER KEPTLER ASSIGNED OUR DAD TO SERVE IN SAN MARCOS FOR A FEW MONTHS THAT ENDED IN BEING 7 YEARS WHERE MOM MADE CLOSE FRIENDS WITH FRIENDS FROM MARTINDALE AND LULING.

IN 1989 THEY RETURNED BACK TO THEIR HOME IN BULVERDE AND DAD WAS ASSIGNED TO SERVE AS P.O IN BLANCO CONGREGATION AND IN FEBRUARY 7, 1993 OUR DAD PASSED AWAY.

IN 2000 MOM MARRIED JUAN TORRES AND LIVED IN SAN MARCOS WHEN HE PASSED AWAY 2016 AND THEN MOM MOVED TO SAN ANTONIO AND STARTED ATTENDING VILLA HERMOSA CONGREGATION. IN MAY SHE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH ESOPHEAL CANCER AND PASSED AWAY SEPTEMBER12, 2020.

OUR MOM ESTELLA HOLDS ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES CONFIDENT IN HER CREATORS PROMISES OF A PARADISE TO COME.
