I. L. Williams

November 7, 1930 — July 18, 2020

I.L. Williams, age 89, of San Antonio, was called home to rest in the late afternoon hours of Saturday, July 18, 2020 at NE Methodist Hospital in Live Oak, Texas.  I.L. was the only child born to Lucile Williams on November 7, 1930 in Brazos County, Texas and was raised by his aunt, and her husband, Mabel and Tommy G. Amerson.  I.L. lived in San Antonio for the majority of his life with the exception of the time he spent serving his country in the United States Army where he honorably discharged in 1960.

I.L. spent 27 years faithfully serving the children at P.F. Stewart Elementary School.

I.L. was a God-fearing man who was always humming a hymn. During his time as Autumn Winds Nursing Home, I.L. looked forward to the services held on Sunday mornings.  He loved bowling and was a member of several bowling leagues at Astro Bowling Center.  Countless hours were spent with his beloved daughters and friends while bowling away the evenings with laughter and friendship.

Those who knew I.L. best will always remember the love he had for his beloved family.  He enjoyed taking long ride with no destination in mind and later in life, there was nothing he enjoyed more than walking his grandchildren to school.

I.L. leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughters, Mignon Tolbert of Selma and Jacqueline Tolbert Caldwell of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Willie R. Williams III, Khyrin R. Williams and Zaylen K. Zakaria, all of Selma; and by a host of cousins and other relatives and special friends.
