Mauricio Hernandez

May 13, 1959 — July 27, 2020

Mauricio Hernandez went home to be with the Lord Jesus peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 61, entering the arms of his loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Mauricio Hernandez was born on May13, 1959 in Mission, Tx.

Mauricio accepted Jesus Christ when he was incarcerated at the age of 28. Mauricio got ordained as a Bible minister while in prison, preaching the word of God and leading others to Christ.

Mauricio was known as a silly jokester, he was so funny for anyone who knew him; he loved to debate on any subject, he was a very smart man, loved his scrabble game, his crossword puzzles, and his scratch off tickets. He loved his Dr.Pepper, burgers, Sabrtitones, his fish sticks, and mash potatoes, and not to forget his favorite German chocolate cake. Mauricio loved Jesus' music and his oldies. Mauricio was a hard worker and worked very hard to support his family at all costs.

Mauricio was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and a friend. Mauricio loved all his children Eileen (Checha), Jason (Jason Boy), Gloria Ann (Nenich), and Joe Angel (Joe Bangel) As he had special names for each one of his babies.

Mauricio found unconditional love with his wife Gloria Jean (La Gorda) whom he loved so much. He became a father again at the age of 48. His youngest son Joe Angel Hernandez won his daddies heart. They lived so happy for 13 years as a family while also caring for his mother n law Lucia Ortiz. Mauricio was a loving father to his son, worked on school projects with him, he was his son’s defender, provider, and most importantly he introduced Jesus to his son. Always working with his brown horse work truck picking up the scrap metal and copper to provide for his family. Mauricio wasn’t perfect, but a forgiven son of God saved by God’s Grace. Jesus left the 99 for Mauricio who was the one.

Mauricio’s last 10 days on earth were truly a blessing from God, filled with the atmosphere of the presence of God 24/7 with his eldest daughter Eileen Flores and husband Ernest Flores who loved him dearly and cared for him. Mauricio was surrounded by his family; his grandchildren Destiny, Nathan, and Samara all pulled together to help care for their grandfather, even his great grandchildren Faith and Bella helped to care for their grandpa. Mauricio was able to share a special moment with each one of his children and several family members before he went home to be with the Lord. God’s unfailing love over Mauricio was so profound, bringing unity, reconciliation, restoration, healing, forgiveness, harmony, and wholeness through our loving Savior Jesus Christ. All Mauricio ever wanted was his family and God gave him so much more than that, God gave him so much love through his family and the gift of eternal life with Jesus.

Mauricio will be truly missed by so many people, especially his family, but his faith in Jesus Christ and his legacy will live on forever through his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his family for all generations to come.

Mauricio is survived by his wife Gloria Jean, his 4 children: daughter, Eileen Flores and husband Ernest, son, Jason Gonzalez and wife Marilyn, daughter, Gloria Ann Hernandez, and son, Joe Angel Hernandez; 7 Grandchildren, Destiny Ann Castillo and husband Jacob, Nathan Lee Martinez, Samara Faith Flores, Jason Gonzales Jr., Joshua Gonzales, Julian Billups, and Emmanuel Gonzales; 2 Great grandchildren Faith Nevaeh Prado and Bella Love Prado.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, your generous blessings to everyone who helped my father Mauricio (Wicho). May God’s favor be upon you and make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you, the Lord turn his face upon you and give you peace! Numbers 6:24-26

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
