Prat Keomuongchanh

Mr. Prat Keomuongchanh, age 83, of Elgin, Illinois passed away at the home of his son in San Antonio, Texas on Monday, June 21, 2021. Prat was born on February 15, 1938, in Thakhek, Laos. After he completed his schooling, Prat worked for the government of Laos. He was married to Ms. Vignouvanh Keomuongchanh for 52 years before her death on June 22, 2012. Prat was involved in local politics, the Lao Temple of Elgin, and was the first president of the Lao American Association of Elgin and held the position for many years. He also shared his love of gardening by becoming one of the founders of a community garden. He enjoyed the company of good friends, and a nice glass of cabernet.

Prat is survived by one sister, Keophila Keomuongchanh, of South Elgin, Illinois, 4 children; Chindavanh, of San Antonio, TX; Souksavanh, of Houston, TX; Vannareth, of Forest Grove, OR, and Ketsada, of Lockport, IL,  8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 brothers and sisters.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., which will be live streamed for family and friends who are unable to attend in person. Private Cremation Services will follow.
